Gentleman Society Ambrée is Givenchy’s 2025 reinterpretation of its floral-woody signature, and the change is one of temperature rather than identity. Where the original Society is crisp and green-lit, Ambrée moves the same architecture into warmer light — an amber facet folded through its heart, with Tasuki vanilla lending a soft, almost resinous sweetness. Givenchy describes it as the original signature “enhanced with an addictive new amber facet.”

A note pyramid built for the evening

It opens bright and slightly spiced — nutmeg, clary sage and juniper berries — a green-fresh accord that keeps the composition aloft in Colombo’s humidity. The heart is where the line’s character lives: orris and narcissus in a powdery floral register, grounded by sandalwood and a double vetiver of Madagascar and Haiti. It lands in tobacco, Madagascar vanilla and Peru balsam — warm, balsamic, and quietly persistent.

That dry-down is why this one suits island evenings so well. Tobacco and Peru balsam can turn heavy in heat; the clary sage and juniper hold them in check. It’s a fragrance for a Galle Face sunset, a long dinner, an air-conditioned room at the end of a warm day.

Perfumer Karine Dubreuil Sereni signed the composition. The flacon keeps Gentleman Society’s distinctive silhouette and 4G monogram, now adorned in gold — a visible shift on the shelf next to the original, and a fair one, because the juice inside has genuinely moved.

Two sizes — and one is better value

Offered in 60 ml and 100 ml. Priced per millilitre, the 100 ml works out roughly 19.5% better value than the 60 ml — worth knowing if Ambrée is destined to become a signature rather than a rotation piece.

How to wear it

Eau de parfum concentration: two to three sprays to the pulse points, applied to moisturised skin. Store away from direct sunlight and heat — in Sri Lanka, a closed drawer beats a windowsill every time.
